The 1936 Winter Olympics, officially the IV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936, were a winter multi-sport event held from 6 to 16 February 1936 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. They were the fourth edition of the Winter Olympic Games and the first to be held in Germany. Later the same year the country also hosted the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin; 1936 was the last year in which one nation staged both the Summer and Winter Games.
